The Dip What?

Welcome! Thanks for joining me on the dip route as I write my way though life’s twists and turns, awkward moments, and attempts at adulting —all amounting to a smorgasbord of randomness from my daily life. These observations, stories, and opinions are slightly informative, somewhat logical, and my unique brand of ridiculousness.

Besides the idea of writing as a means to cope, to share, to evolve, and to connect on this crazy life journey, the “dip route” harkens back to my high school days when it was used to describe taking a divergent way or a less-traveled path than the obvious route to get from Point A to Point B. As in, let’s take the “dip route” to school, to the mall, etc. Typically involving a few stops along the way that were probably not entirely necessary, but added to the fun. We were less concerned with getting somewhere fast, and more concerned with enjoying the moment and making memories along the way.

It always gave me a small thrill to take the “dip route”, and it still does. Although as a thirty-something wanting to have it all and feeling like there is a road map I simply must follow in order to do so, it seems to be harder to find that carefree sense of adventure and living in the moment spirit that just came naturally as a teenager. The dip route philosophy reminds me to take a timeout to write, to embrace adventure, take detours, and to reflect on this life I’m living.  Thanks for joining me!

  2. Hi The LBonical Woman
Cool story; works fine for me; anyone that wanted to be on SNL is OK in my book. Of course Diane and I are old enough to be your parents so SNL to us means Belushi, Ackroyd etc but so many great things have come form that show so why not coin a new phrase?

Thanks for the follow; we hope we can inspire you in some way

    1. Thanks!! It was much more fun in college to dream about running away to New York and SNL than to actually go to class. I guess not much has changed. These days I’m dreaming about moving abroad (Mom, if you’re reading this it’s going to be ok) so I am definitely inspired by your blog. I’m looking forward to following your adventures!
