Why Being Sick Really Isn’t The Pits…

AKA Making the Best Out of a Crummy Situation

1) I slept in until 12 pm today. Can’t tell you the last time I did that. Cold medicine is a very powerful thing indeed.

2) Upon waking, I had orange and vanilla sorbet for lunch. Not sure why I don’t do that every day.

3) As if I hadn’t rested enough, I plan on spending the rest of the day on the couch. This cold is a beast that I will drown with lots of rest, cold medicine and fluids. And maybe a Martini later. It is Martini Sunday after all and the last time I checked it qualifies as a fluid.

4) Since I’m down and out, I will not be folding laundry, cleaning the kitchen, cooking or any other strenuous activity today. That doesn’t mean my brain isn’t whirring to go (although maybe slightly slower and a bit foggier than normal) so to keep boredom from creeping-in I will read, shop online, play Words With Friends and watch tv.

I really hope I’m not making you jealous. I know it all sounds so glamorous.

How do you handle being sick?

  1. I need to take lessons from you!!! I still find the need to keep on doing household duties. Your dad fusses and tells me to stop and rest a bit. I guess it is my way of trying to convince myself and everyone around me that I am really not sick. It ultimely back fires and I end up at the doctors and having to miss a few days of work (of course this usually happens on a Thursday and my weekend is messed up). I hope you were able to enjoy a Martini and are on the road to a speedy recovery. As always we love you bunches!!!

P.S. It sounds like you did a good job following my advice!!!
